In NIST's FRTE 1:N demographic evaluation, Innov8tif's algorithm ranked 36th among 178 evaluated algorithms on both GINI and MXOG measures of false-positive demographic variation, placing it within approximately the top 20% of evaluated algorithms on these measures. This inclusion on the globally recognized NIST leaderboard is more than just a badge of honor, it is a testament to the rigorous engineering, accuracy, and reliability that power our digital identity solutions.

What is the NIST 1:N Evaluation?#

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a U.S. federal agency within the Department of Commerce, sets the absolute gold standard for evaluating biometric algorithms worldwide. Their Face Recognition Technology Evaluation (formerly FRVT) is an independent, highly rigorous testing process that measures the performance of automated facial recognition technologies. Specifically, the 1:N (One-to-Many) identification test evaluates how accurately an algorithm can search a single probe face against a large gallery of enrolled identities to determine whether a match exists and, if so, identify the correct person. This differs from 1:1 (One-to-One) verification, where the system compares two face images to determine whether they belong to the same person, such as comparing a selfie with the portrait on an ID document. In 1:N identification, performance must be maintained across a potentially very large gallery while controlling both false positive identification and false negative identification errors.
