Innov8tif Granted United States Patent for Advanced Authentication of Identification Documents

Innov8tif Solutions has officially been granted a United States patent (US 12026932) for its latest invention method of authenticating identification documents. This patent, issued on 2nd July 2024, marks a significant milestone in document security and authentication technology.

Identity crime, particularly involving fake identification documents, remains a prevalent issue. Technological advancements have led to the creation of counterfeit ID cards that are difficult to detect with the naked eye. The patented invention focuses on enhancing the security of identification documents by verifying the authenticity of a security hologram based on its position when reflected by a light source. This process involves:

  • Receiving a Real-Time Video Feed: Capturing a live video feed of the identification document with a directed light source to illuminate the security hologram.
  • Processing Image Sequences: Converting the real-time video feed into multiple image sequences for detailed analysis.
  • Analysing Images for Glare and Security Hologram: Examining each image from the sequence for the presence of a glare (reflection of the light source) and the security hologram.
  • Position Analysis: Assessing the position of the glare and the security hologram in each image to determine if their positions are consistent with the directed light source.
  • Authenticity Evaluation: Providing a result on the authenticity of the identification document based on the analysed positions.
  • Algorithmic Randomisation: Advanced algorithms are used to generate a randomly designated region for the light source position.
